The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson, in partnership with the City of Tshwane and the SABC cordially invite members of the media to the greening 2010 event to be held at Fountains Valley Resort in Pretoria on Tuesday, 1 June 2010 at 10h00.
The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, through the Forestry branch, initiated a partnership involving the SABC in the greening of public viewing areas and associated residential settlements in these areas. Through this initiative, trees were planted in Gauteng (Mamelodi), Free State (Welkom) and North West (Marquassi Hills and Kimberley) and more initiatives are still planned in Limpopo (Makhado) and other provinces. The tree planting events were made to coincide with selected 2010 Soccer World Cup tournament milestones such as the 60, 50 and 30 days countdown to the World Cup kick-off.
