Media invitation

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Training Divisional Commissioner,
Gary Kruser cordially invites the media to the certification ceremony of the 234 youth who successfully completed the “New Venture Creation”, a groundbreaking joint venture between the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Safety and Security Sector and Education Training Authority (SASSETA), aimed at luring the youth away from crime through empowering them with entrepreneurial skills.

One of the recipients of the certificate is a youth from Bloemfontein, a former gangster, who gave up gangsterism, joined the 12 month programme offered by a consortium of service providers, including the University of Pretoria and the University of North West, (Potchefstroom) and managed to establish a thriving business venture.

The New Venture Creation programme, which enrolled youth across the country between the ages of 18 to 35, is divided into three modules: skills development on entrepreneurship, sustainable business identification and creation and small business development, growth, mentoring and coaching.
