September is Tourism Month
The Department of Tourism, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, South African Tourism and the Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency will host a media event to officially announce its tourism month activities leading up to the World Tourism Day Celebration on 27 September 2018.
World Tourism Day (WTD) is an annual United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) event celebrated on 27 September globally to foster an awareness among communities of the importance of tourism and its socio-economic value.
Drawing inspiration from the 2018 UNWTO World Tourism Day theme: “Tourism and Digital Transformation,” the event will highlight the value of domestic tourism and the critical role digital transformation can play in growing an inclusive and sustainable tourism economy.
