South Africa to host Extraordinary Southern African Development Community (SADC) Health Ministers meeting

The Government of the Republic of South Africa, led by Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, will host the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ministers of Health Meeting tomorrow to deliberate on the state of readiness and develop common approach in response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

The meeting, which will be convened by SADC Secretariat, will bring together Ministers of Health and key stakeholders to build a consensus on appropriate strategic action(s) to prevent the introduction or spread of the ongoing Ebola virus transmission that has occurred in West Africa to the SADC.

The meeting will be attended and addressed by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
