Press conference - a review on the progress made in achieving strategic objectives in education

MEC Donald Grant and Head of the Provincial Education Department, Penny Vinjevold will be briefing media on the progress made in achieving the strategic objectives set by the Western Cape Government for education.

Three years ago, in November 2009, the Western Cape Provincial Government released its strategic plan for education 2010 - 2019. The plan focuses on ten (10) key priority areas that aim to improve the life chances of all learners in the province through the provision of quality education.

Tomorrow morning, the MEC and the Head of Department (HOD), will brief media on each of the key priority areas, providing a summary of what we have achieved so far and what we plan to achieve into the future.

As an open and accountable government, we are subject to review in achieving the objectives as set out in this plan. This is an opportunity for the media to question and review if and where we are meeting our targets and fulfilling the objectives that we set out to do back in 2009.
