Parliament briefs media on state of readiness for State of the Nation Address, 6 Feb

The Presiding Officers of Parliament, led by National Assembly Speaker Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and National Council of Provinces Chairperson, Mr Amos Masondo, will tomorrow, Tuesday 6 February hold a media briefing on preparations to host the 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The SONA is a joint sitting of the two Houses of Parliament – the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces and is called by the President in terms of Section 42(5) of the Constitution. It brings together the three arms of the state under one roof.

The 2024 State of the Nation Address is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 8 February at 19:00 at Cape Town City Hall. This will be the last SONA for the sixth administration.

The Presiding Officers will use this briefing to outline progress on the preparations so far and explain how the event programme will unfold.
