Parliament briefs media on Solidarity Conference, 5 Feb

Budget Votes and 1913 Land Act Centenary Activities Dominate Parliamentary Programme in Second Quarter of 2013

The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation Mr Tisetso Magama will address the media on the Committee’s hosting the Solidarity Conference in support of the people of Palestine, Cuba and Western Sahara.

The Solidarity Conference is scheduled to take place at the Old Assembly Chamber in Parliament on Thursdays (February 06). It is aimed at producing an action-oriented declaration, which will guide Parliament in its future engagements on how human rights issues can be dealt with.

It will also chart the way forward in terms of contributing to national and international solidarity discourse aimed at bringing about lasting solutions to these challenges. It is also envisaged that the conference will adopt a Plan of Action that highlights “redoubling the campaign of solidarity” with the people of the three nations. The conference will be attended by various ambassadors, MPs, solidarity groups and academics.

Details of the briefing are as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 5 February 2014
Time: 14h00
