North West Premier Thandi Modise briefs South African National Aids Council (SANAC) on provincial initiatives

Premier Thandi Modise is to brief the South African National Aids Council (SANAC) Plenary on initiatives, progress and challenges that the North West province encountered in implementing the Provincial Strategic Plan (20122016) for control and management of HIV and Aids, Sexually Transmitted infections (STI) and Tubercolosis (TB). The Plenary to be chaired by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is to be held at the Bafokeng Conference Cenre in Phokeng as from 9h00 am this morning.

Agenda items for the meeting of the multi-sector body established to drive the national programme in response to HIV and TB include evaluation of progress on the implementation of the National Strategic Plan, National Aids Expenditure Statistics, HIV Counselling and Testing Campaign and World Aids Day Commemoration.

Members of the media are invited for a media briefing on these and other key resolutions taken by the council to be held as between 13h00 – 13h20. At the end of the plenary meeting and media briefing, Deputy President Motlanthe accompanied by Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi and Premier Thandi Modise will visit the Tapologo HIV and AIDS Centre - a hospice facility for people living with HIV.
