Economic Cluster to brief media responding to high rate of unemployment
Economic Sectors, Employment and Infrastructure Development (ESEID) Cluster led by Employment and Labour Minister, Thulas Nxesi will today, 1 August 2019 brief members of the media responding to the high rate of unemployment following the statistics released by Stats SA earlier this week.
The media briefing takes place immediately after President Cyril Ramaphosa receives National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) 2018 post presidential jobs summit report. The NEDLAC report will document progress and challenges encountered in relation to the Framework Agreement that was adopted at the Summit and which included programmes and projects to create jobs; mechanisms to unblock barriers to effective implementation; as well as agreements on the imperative for job retention and ways to prevent job losses.
