Joint briefing on Eskom and electricity supply
The Minister of Public Enterprises, Mr Pravin Gordhan and the Chairman of the Eskom Board, Mr Jabu Mabuza, will address the media tomorrow, 3 April 2019, on the current status of electricity supply.
The media briefing will take place at an Eskom power station, which is about a 90 minute drive from Johannesburg.
For security reasons, the power station will not be disclosed at this time.
Transport will be provided for journalists from the Eskom head office, Megawatt Park, 2 Maxwell Drive Sunninghill Sandton. Journalists are requested to be at Megawatt Park from 10.00am. Transport will depart from 11am.
Journalists are requested to urgently make the following arrangements in order visit the power station, be part of a media tour of the facility and attend the 2pm media briefing:
- Confirm their attendance by providing: full names, ID numbers, name of the media institution and contact details. This must be done before the close of business today.
- Journalists must have their ID’s, passports in the case of foreign media, or driver’s licenses with them tomorrow.
- Journalists are advised to wear closed shoes and long pants. The power station is regarded as a national key point and strict security measures will apply.
- Journalists will not be allowed to transport themselves to the power station once the venue has been disclosed.
- Media institutions that would need special vehicle access for the purposes of live broadcast transmission, for example, are requested to make arrangements with the DPE officials as per the contact details below. Full names, ID numbers of the technical crew and the media institution will be required for accreditation, for this purpose.
- Journalists will be transported back to Megawatt Park by Eskom after the media briefing.
