The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, will announce a new Section 34 Determination for significant additional generation capacity over the 2026–2037 planning horizon.
This determination includes a diverse energy mix, incorporating wind, solar, battery energy storage, and gas-to-power technologies.
The Minister will also outline the launch of a new multi-year procurement pipeline designed to provide the market with long-term visibility and stability.
In addition, the Minister will introduce the State-led Power Parks Programme, which aims to reduce barriers to entry for emerging developers and promote broader ownership in the energy sector.
This initiative will focus on strategic sites to support transmission, battery storage, and local economic development, while ensuring that new generation capacity is effectively integrated into the national grid.
