The Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Michael Masutha, MP, will brief the media on the transfer of administrative functions supporting judicial independence and staff from the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development to the Office of the Chief Justice as approved by the Cabinet .
This move follows the President’s proclamation of the Office of the Chief Justice in 2010 and a further amendment of the constitution to formally recognize the Chief Justice as the head of the judiciary as well as the subsequent signing into law of the Superior Courts Act in 2013.
