Health Minister, Provincial MECs to hold National Health Council
Pretoria: Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla and Deputy Minister, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo together with Members of Executive Council (MECs) responsible health will on Thursday, 12 October meet as part of the National Health Council to discuss the state of public health system in South Africa.
The meeting will also reflect on a number of issues impacting the provision quality of healthcare service in the country, including medico-legal claims, cost containment measures announced by the National Treasury and mitigating factors, introduction of new vaccines, the risk level of avian influenza infection on humans, expansion of online birth registrations in health facilities, maternity and neonatal care guidelines.
Minister and the MECs will be available for media interactions on a number of health issues, between 13h00 and 14h00.
