Minister Aaron Motsoaledi to brief media on progress on the Border Management Authority Bill and the impact of increased Home Affairs capacity during the festive season
The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, will share information with the media on progress made in establishing a Border Management Authority (BMA) for South Africa following the passing of the BMA Bill by the National Council of Provinces.
The Minister will also report on 2019/20 festive season traveller movement statistics and border law enforcement. The Department had increased personnel and extended operating hours at ports of entry to facilitate faster movement of people and goods during the busy festive period.
In addition, Minister Motsoaledi will provide an update on the impact of extending operating hours from 2 to 10 January 2020 which benefited citizens requiring Home Affairs services. Operating hours have been extended to cover the whole month of February.
