Media Briefing - Home Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor to brief media re Department of Home Affairs budget vote - GCIS's Imbizo Centre, 120 Plein Street, Parliament

The Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor, will on Thursday, 9 May 2013, at 14h00, table the Department of Home Affairs budget vote speech at the Old Assembly Chamber of Parliament in Cape Town.

This will be Minister Naledi Pandor’s first budget vote speech since her appointment in October last year as minister of home affairs.

At 12h30, Minister Naledi Pandor together with Home affairs Deputy Minister, Ms Fatima Chohen and Director-General, Mr Mkuseli Apleni will address a media briefing, scheduled to take place at the GCIS’s Imbizo Centre, 120 Plein Street, Parliament.

Under the theme; “celebrating the restoration of common citizenship, human security and national identity", minister pandor is expected to outline future plans for the department; including amongst others, the modernisation process and the national population register campaign.

Other activities on the day include the exhibition and demonstrations of various services offered by the department and its entities, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), the Government Printing Works (GPW) and the Films and Publications Board (fpb).

Minister Pandor will round-off the day by hosting a cock-tail party for the media and members of parliament at the old assembly dining hall.
