Free State provincial government cluster media briefing on the Programme of Action

A clear Free State Provincial Government Programme of Action (POA) for the next five years (2014/19), painstakingly developed and resolved by the Executive Council, will be presented to the media on 26 August 2014.

The adopted Provincial Government Programme of Action, which has already seen various projects commence since the dawn of the fifth democratic Free State Provincial Government in May 2014, has clear and precise targets and timeframes guided by the National Development Plan (NDP) – Vision 2030. This programme of action is premised on building the capacity of the province to be responsive to the National Growth Path and the Industrial Policy Action Plan of the country as vehicles that will enable us to move South Africa forward.

The focus of the media briefing will be on key achievements since the beginning of the new administration as part of this adopted 2014 to 2019 Programme of Action, and also highlighting what the Free State Provincial Government is going to do moving forward.

Economic cluster

Cluster Technical Chairperson: Head of Department: Agriculture and Rural Development, Peter Thabethe.

  • Economic Affairs, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs and Small Business Development
  • Agriculture and Rural Development
  • Public Works and Infrastructure
  • Treasury
  • Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation
  • Police, Roads and Transport

Provincial Public Entities participating in the Cluster are:

  • Free State Development Corporation (FDC)
  • Free State Tourism Authority
  • Free State Gambling and Liquor Authority
  • Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA)
  • Industrial Development Corporation (IDC)
  • National Empowerment Fund (NEF)
  • Independent Development Trust (IDT)

Social cluster:

Chairperson of the Cluster: MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe
Cluster Technical Chairperson: Head of Department: Health, Dr. David Motau.

Departments constituting the Cluster are:

  • Education
  • Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation
  • Social Development
  • Health

Provincial Public Entities participating in the Cluster are:

  • Home Affairs
  • South African Social Security Agency (SASSA)
  • Correctional Services
  • Department of Labour

These clusters will drive an integrated Programme of Action of Government to ensure that the Free State Provincial Government accelerates the pace of service delivery as we enter the second phase of our socio-economic transformation.

These clusters will simultaneously brief the media on cluster specification issues as well as cross cutting issues of service delivery. The media will be enabled to do one on one briefings with the political and administrative heads of clusters and individual departments.
