Media Briefing: Transport Budget Vote

Cape Town: Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele will table the Transport Department's Budget Vote in the National Assembly in Cape Town commencing at 09h00 on Friday, 3 July 2009. Transport MECs, CEOs of Transport Agencies and entities as well as key stakeholders in the transport sector will join the Minister.

Details of the Budget Vote presentation are as follows:

Time: 09h00 to 11h00

As part of his Budget Speech, Minister Ndebele will outline progress with regards to the recently announced National Working Group on Public Transport, which was initiated to deal primarily with challenges in the taxi industry. Other issues to be covered by the Minister include:
* Progress with transport arrangements for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, including the Bus Rapid Transit System.
* The proposed N2 toll road between KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.
* An update regarding Durban Transport.

The Minister will also avail himself for a question and answer session and one-on-one interviews after the budget presentation. Details for this session are as follows:
