Join us as we share thought provoking plans intended to strengthen support to Child Headed Household and other vulnerable children. Among others, these include the new, Youth Care Programme named ISIBINDI to be implemented over the next three years. And an awareness and advocacy campaign intended to eradicate the increasing social ills such asviolence against women and children.
The media briefing follows the Child Protection Week which the department marked from 28 May to 9 June, 2012, amid disturbing incidents of child abuse. Despite those shameful cases of child abuse the department initiated several activities intended toprotect children and to highlight theirplight under the theme “Working together to protect children”. These comprised of the unveiling of new Early Childhood Development Centres and an increased education and awareness campaign.
Additionally, as the Gauteng MEC of Agriculture, Rural and Social Development is the political head of two departments, and tabled her Social Development 2012/ 2013 Budget Speech on Tuesday 29 May 2012, and the second Budget Speech for the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on Tuesday 5 June 2012, this will be an opportunity for the media to ask herto clarify and highlight key services delivery projects and challenges arising from the two Annual Budget Votes, and to outline how she manages service delivery mandates of the two departments.
