This afternoon, Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC, Qedani Mahlangu will brief the media on the death of the five premature babies at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital on Tuesday.
Healthcare workers at the paediatric ward noted the diarrhoea outbreak on Saturday and immediately started administering treatment to the affected babies.
Upon learning about the death of the babies MEC Mahlangu ordered an investigation into the outbreak and preliminary results will be communicated this afternoon.
