All media are informed that the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa, will on Wednesday, 10 to Thursday, 11 of August, undertake a working visit to the neighbouring country of Lesotho. The purpose of the visit is to bring into effect the second phase of the Lesotho Highlands Water Scheme with a signing ceremony on 11 August together with her counterpart in Lesotho Minister Moleleki. This second phase will ensure the security of water supply to South Africa particularly the province of Gauteng and surrounds.
This visit as part of the mandate of Minister Molewa needs to also be seen within the context of continued healthy bilateral relations between South Africa and Lesotho as well as a follow up to the state visit of President JG Zuma to Lesotho in 2010.
