Public Works Minister Geoff Doidge, together with Public Works Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu will on Monday, 28 September 2009, celebrate Iviki Lezihlahla (Arbor Week) by planting trees at the Kulani Primary School in Winterveldt, Tshwane North.
The celebration, to be held jointly with the National Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, City of Tshwane as well as Odi Water, will see the planting of 25 trees at the school under the theme Plant Trees, Save our Planet.
Iviki Lezihlahla aims to promote awareness around the need to plant and maintain indigenous trees throughout South Africa, particularly in disadvantaged communities which are in dire need for open natural green spaces, food gardens and "green" schools.
