Theme: 'Towards Sustainable Human Settlements through Integrated Planning.'

The Department of Local Government and Housing will host the Limpopo Human Settlements Indaba on 3 and 4 December 2009. The Indaba is a platform for all stakeholders in the housing sector to explore creative ways of accelerating the delivery of integrated and sustainable human settlements.

The department is committed to meet the following specific objectives:
* Accelerating the delivery of human settlements as a key strategy for poverty alleviation
* Utilising provision of human settlements as a major job creation strategy
* Ensuring that property is accessed by all as an asset for wealth creation and empowerment
* Leveraging growth in the economy
* Combating crime, promoting social cohesion and improving quality of life for the poor
* Utilising human settlements as an instrument for the development in support of spatial restructuring.

The Indaba will recognise the numerous financial, social and contractual partnerships that go into building an industry of excellence, so that through stakeholder management we are able to achieve and fulfil the mandate of delivering integrated and sustainable human settlements.
