All media are informed that the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa, will on Monday, 10 January undertake a working visit to three other provinces affected by the flooding, namely, Northern Cape, Free State and the North West. The impact of the floods on the surrounding communities and particularly the farming community is of great importance and will be central to this visit.
Details of the visit are as follows:
Date: 10 January 2011
Venue 1: Griqualand West Co-op, Douglas, Northern Cape.
Time: 13h30: media briefing and a visit to the confluence of the Vaal and Orange Rivers.
Venue 2: Christiana: actual venue to be confirmed: will include interaction with the local community, the farming community and update on the impact of the flood on the tourism business.
Venue 3: Bloemhof Dam, Free State, which straddles all three provinces.
