Statistics South Africa will on Wednesday, 10 November 2010 provide details about the deployment of the 120 000 fieldworkers to be used during the Census in 2011.
The event, to be held in Polokwane, also marks the Limpopo launch of the Census 2011 public awareness campaign and commemoration of the first World Statistics Day.
World Statistics Day is used to raise awareness of the many achievements of official statistics premised on the core values of service, professionalism and integrity. Statistics play a crucial role in the policy-making process and provide data that is needed by government officials to make informed decisions.
Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale will deliver an address on the importance of the census, particularly in his province.The event is scheduled to start with a publicity convoy by StatsSA officials at 08h00 in branded vehicles, blowing vuvuzelas through Polokwane central business district. The convoy will then proceed to join the launch proceedings as scheduled:
