What: Cleaning Operation
When: Saturday, 5 September 2009, 10:00
Where: Metsimaholo District Hospital, Sasolburg
Who: The MEC for Health, Ms ES Mabe, members of the District Management Team, personnel from the hospital and volunteers

Why and how:

The intention of the MEC is to have women to come and volunteer in the painting of Metsimaholo District Hospital.

The area identified for painting is:
a. the main passage from the entrance of the hospital building to the nurses' home
b. the foyer area at the entrance including admissions
c. the staircase area leading to the management offices

The hospital is also preparing for Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA) evaluation on Monday, 7 September 2009, thus cleaning activities are currently taking place as well.

The hospital has paint and is also in the process of obtaining enough brushes and rollers for Saturday's Letsema event. The District maintenance team is already busy preparing the area to be painted to be ready for Saturday. The Maintenance team will also be present on Saturday to assist in directing what the volunteers will be doing. Plastic aprons will be provided to the volunteers and the Metsimaholo Mayor's Office will assist with overalls and T-shirts for the volunteers.

The Municipality has been requested to:

a. send bush clears to prune low lying branches from the trees within the hospital.
b. provide technical people to fill pot holes on the road leading to the hospital.

This has to happen between 2 September 2009 and Friday, 5 September 2009.

The municipality will provide +- 100 refuse bags for collecting refusal by volunteers within the hospital during the clean-up on Saturday.

The municipality will bring tolls such as brooms, rakes, forks and spades for doing the garden.
