The Select Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional affairs will tomorrow (Tuesday 4 September) receive presentations from Gauteng, Free State and North West Local Government MECs regarding their commitments to improve on their last (2010/11 financial year) audit outcomes.
The Auditor General (AG) recently reported that Free State received no clean audit, with 50% of municipalities and municipal entities getting disclaimers or adverse opinions. In Gauteng, the AG noted a marginal improvement with all disclaimers eliminated, but found a regression on clean audits. The North West’s audit outcomes reflected a regression and there was an increase in non-submission of financial statements to the AG.
