North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa will honour police officers who lost their lives in the line duty at the annual provincial anti-police killing commemoration service to be held at the Madiba Banqueting Halls in Potchefstroom this morning, Sunday, 19 September 2010.
One hundred and seven police killings were recorded during the 2008/09 financial year and escalated to 110 during the 2009/10 financial year.
North West Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Zukiswa Mbombo, Executive Mayor of Tlokwe Local Municipality, Maphehle Maphehle, pastors from various churches, executive and members of the provincial community policing board, provincial, cluster and station commanders including members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) will also attend the ceremony.
