MEC visits woman with extremely large breasts

The MEC for Health in Gauteng Ms Ntombi Mekgwe is to visit the woman who has developed extremely large breasts as a side effect of using anti-retroviral drugs.

The woman is believed to be suffering from a rare form of lipodystrophy, fat distribution, which affect a very small number of people on ARVs. The  woman was taken to Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic hospital on Friday where she is expected to undergo treatment. Doctors will be available to explain the kind of treatment that the woman will undergo.

The MEC will be accompanied by the chairperson of the Gauteng Legislature’s health portfolio committee Mrs Molebatsi Bopape during the visit.
