MEC for the North West Department of Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Rural Development Mr Boitumelo Tshwene, will on Tuesday, 18 May 2010, present the department’s budget vote speech at the North West Provincial Legislature.
In his speech, MEC Tshwene is expected to report on the department’s performance over the previous financial year and highlight the department’s priorities for the current financial year.
The budget policy speech which will be in line with President Jacob Zuma’s call for action will feature amongst others, the department’s strategy in providing sustainable agricultural systems and broadening agricultural opportunities for the farming community, as well as its intent to enforce complete adherence to environmental legislations. MEC will also give a report on the implementation of Comprehensive Rural Development Programme in the province and its plans for this year.
