MEC Shongwe to meet Gert Sibande people

Amid the public service protests that rocked Gert Sibande in the past four months, Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison, MEC Vusi Shongwe will hold a public participation meeting and interact with the people on crime issues.

The purpose of the Imbizo is to strengthen existing partnerships between government and the community and further mobilise communities about their participation in the fight against crime.

MEC Shongwe believes that public participation activities are key to eradicating crime in and the subsequent promotion of a safer Mpumalanga.

Various government departments such as Home Affairs, Independent Electoral Commission, South African Police Service (SAPS), and Justice Constitutional Development will be part of the event. They will also be assisting community members with essential government services.

After the event, the department will consolidate inputs from the people and refer them to relevant state organs for processing.
