MEC Shongwe to hand over a Wendy House to Schoemansdal Police Station

Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe and SAPS Provincial Commissioner Thulani Ntobela will tomorrow hand over a Wendy House to the Schoemansdal Police Station near Malelane in Nkomazi Municipality.

The Wendy House will be donated by the department in partnership with Greater Nelspruit Rape Intervention Programme (GRIP), and will be used as a Victim Empowerment Centre to assist victims of crime, especially those who have been involved in domestic violence and sexual abuse.

The department will also donate furniture, microwave, refrigerator, coffee tables and bedding material.

The initiative is part of the department’s effort to assist the victims of crime and to ensure that they are not subjected to any secondary victimization. Nkomazi Municipality is targeted due to high prevalence of gender based violence in that part of the region.
