MEC of Finance, Mrs Pinky Phosa will share the joy of Nelson Mandela International Day with child-headed families and children with disabilities at Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Municipality from 16 to 18 July 2012.
MEC Phosa will be joined by goodwill sponsors and team of officials during a three days programme whose aim is to make a difference in the living conditions of children in Volkrust, Amersfoort and Perdekop.
The departmental campaign, which is also celebrated under the theme: ‘Making every Day a Mandela Day’, builds on the humane legacy as shaped by Dr Nelson Mandela when during the Rivonia trial declared his total allegiance to freedom of all people despite looming jail time.
Mrs Phosa said the selfless contributions to the good causes by departmental officials as well as other citizens across the world at this time make a momentous impact in the continuing effort to build a caring society which is enthralled in ubuntu spirit.
“The principled manner in which Madiba stood for the freedom of all South African, when in the dock, will forever be a building block for a prosperous and better world for women, children, people with disabilities and other less fortunate amongst us”, said Phosa.
