MEC Nkosi to conduct inspection of the newly replaced laundry equipment at Chris-Hani Baragwanath Hospital

The Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development, Mr Bheki Nkosi will conduct an inspection of the R16.5 million newly replaced laundry equipment at Chris-Hani Baragwanth Hospital in Soweto.

According to MEC Nkosi the replacement of the laundry equipment at Chris-Hani Baragwanth Hospital  is in line with, “the implementation of Project 274 which commenced during 2011, when the Department of Infrastructure Development embarked on the initiative to replace aged and deteriorating electro-mechanical equipment at various health institutions across Gauteng. The focus is on replacing and refurbishing boilers, lifts, laundries, chillers, autoclaves, electrical reticulation, and change-over switches of generators”. 

The new laundry equipment will also service other clinics and hospitals in the region including the soon to be completed Jabulani District Hospital.

The MEC added, “We have also completed the conversion of the kit room into a new high-care maternity ward to the value of R1,3 million at the same institution”.

The MEC will also detail a range of Project 274 deliverables for this year.
