In preparing for the coordination and launch of the provincial leg of the October Transport Month, the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport is hosting a media networking session with journalists and editors at Sunnyside Hotel, Parktown, Johannesburg on 30 September 2010.
The media gathering will afford the MEC Nkosi and journalists, editors and producers to engage and discuss a broad range of roads and transport issues and also raise awareness about the October Transport Month campaign. I ssues will range from the department's interventions such as the construction of roads infrastructure, the introduction of bus rapid transit systems, the Gautrain and various other related matters. The MEC will further highlight achievements and challenges on the transport front, give a summary of key milestones and achievements as well as initiatives to build social capital through socio-economic infrastructure development.
The MEC will also use the opportunity to create awareness of the importance of green transport in maintaining a cleaner environment, raise awareness of the role of public transport in the movement of people and goods.
