Community and Government join to act on Old Natalspruit Hospital vandalism

A team of senior government leaders comprised of MECs, MMCs and Ward Councillors will meet the community leadership of Thokoza and Katlehong to resolve the vandalism of Old Natalspruit Hospital (tomorrow) Wednesday afternoon.

Gauteng Infrastructure Development Department (GDID) MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza, who will lead the delegation, said the government together with people of Thokoza and Katlehong will find the solution on how best to resolve the vandalism of the hospital and ensure residents safety. Aplan to demolish the old hospital will be presented.

“The hospital has been decommissioned and is due for demolishing and partial restoration. However, it is very dangerous currently to enter the hospital being decontaminated. Once that is completed work will be begin and in the culture of the Gauteng Government, this will be done in partnership with the community. We will be meeting the community tomorrow as part of this process,” Mayathula-Khoza said.

She dismissed reports that the GDID was unable to provide security because of non-payment of personnel as unfounded.
