Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Nandi Mayathula-Khoza invites the media to join her when she awards projects that have been participating in the Bontle ke Botho (BKB) campaign for 2010/11.
Initiated in 2002, the BKB is Gauteng's Clean and Green Campaign which is a mass mobilisation Environmental Education project and a strategy through which the Gauteng Province seeks to respond to the requirements of the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation (JPOI) agreed to by countries at the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) as the best possible way to implement Agenda 21, a blueprint for sustainable development. Each year Gauteng awards R3.5 million to different projects promoting good environmental practices.
The campaign has contributed a lot in job creation and poverty alleviation in the province.
