The MEC for Gauteng Community Safety, Khabisi Mosunkutu will on Monday, officially launch the Orange Farm Victim Empowerment Centre (VEC).
The opening of the VEC is part of the department's initiatives to improve the safety, socio-economic conditions and welfare of family, substance and gender based violence, and rehabilitates the victims and survivors of abuse and violence.
Amongst the services rendered by the centre include:
* Individual counselling for people who have been affected by violence – both adults and children
* Educational talks and workshops on the experience of and reactions to trauma and violence
* Training workshops with individuals who work with vulnerable groups, like children, women and the elderly.
