North West MEC for Human Settlements Desbo Mohono will honour employees who have served the public service with commitment and loyalty.
Mohono will award about 18 departmental employees in three different categories. The first category is for 10 employees who have served for 20 years and five of those who have served for 30 years in the department. The third category will be for three employees who have also served between 20 and 30 years until they reached retirement age.
MEC Mohono will further launch the Departmental Consultative Forum (DCF) whose main objectives are to promote good management of Employment Equity and Affirmative Action matters within the department, ensure effective consultation on all employment policies and procedures, and to promote effective service delivery within the department.
The DCF, which consists of members from the department and employee representatives, will ensure thorough consultation on the preparation and implementation of Employment Equity Plan and Report, ensure compliance with labour laws and further report to the Departmental Management Committee on its activities.
MEC Mohono said her department is committed to creating sound labour relations and ultimately democratise the workplace as stipulated in the Constitution.
