MEC Mohono to intensify traffic law enforcement operations for Easter

MEC for the North West Department of Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Desbo Mohono will launch provincial 2012 Arrive Alive campaign for Easter holidays in Matlosane on Monday, 26 March.

The annual campaign is aimed at intensifying traffic law enforcement operations and increasing visibility of law enforcement in an effort to reduce road accidents and fatalities on all major roads across the province.

Speed law enforcement, drunken driving, vehicle fitness tests, and load management operations and road safety awareness campaigns targeted at all road users are to be stepped up throughout the operation.

The onslaught against lawlessness on public roads is expected to be intensified throughout the Easter season. The campaign is in support of the National Rolling Enforcement Plan and the Decade of Action for Road safety aimed at reducing road accidents by half.
