MEC Mohono to hand over Each-One-Settle-One campaign response houses

The first houses to be built under the Each-One-Settle-One Campaign in the North West Province are to be handed over to beneficiaries by North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Ms Desbo Mohono in Mandela Park outside Mahikeng tomorrow.

The handing-over of these houses comes as a result of a local housing developer who acted in response to the MEC’s request to contractors doing business with the department to donate at least one house to the destitute in every area or community they are contracted to build houses as part of their social responsibility.

In line with Each-One-Settle-One campaign, MEC will also officially open the Puso Morafe Ya Barolong Boora Tshidi Sub-Tribal Office in Mogosane village and further handover an office to the Bothakga Service Club, a Non-Profit Organisation for older persons in the Dibate village around Mafikeng also donated by a housing development contractor.

The Each-One-Settle-One was recently launched by the national human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale with intentions to mobilize stakeholders, private sectors/institutions, agencies and businesses in order to assist the department towards reducing the backlog of Human Settlements.

This campaign will also assist in achieving the millennium development goals to eradicate informal settlements by 2014.
