MEC Mohono continues to monitor progress on housing delivery turnaround plan in all municipalities in the North West

In a bit to improve housing delivery within the province, North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison, Ms Desbo Mohono, will visit all four districts to engage with municipalities in a bit to find solutions to housing challenges. The visit is part of the MEC’s commitment to accelerate housing delivery and creating healthy relations with municipality.

Following challenges experienced in reducing housing backlog and incomplete projects at different municipalities, MEC Mohono took it upon herself to engage municipalities in getting a common understanding with them. She said that during her last engagements with municipalities she made some commitments which she will also monitor progress on.

This year’s engagement with the leadership of municipalities and contractors is aimed at making follow-ups on the outlined roll-out of the plan dubbed “Thuntsha Lerole-Kick the dust” to unblock and accelerate housing delivery in all municipalities in the province.

MEC Mohono says that the sessions with municipalities are strengthening partnership to ensure that the projects yield targeted job opportunities, set housing targets are met without compromise on quality, roles are clarified and that early warning and monitoring systems are in place for prompt intervention.

MEC Mohono will tomorrow, Friday 23 March 2012 consult with municipalities around the Ngaka Modiri Molema District. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality’s Chamber.
