Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC Ntombi Mekgwe will tomorrow morning brief the media on the partnership with Mediclinic that will boost the delivery of quality healthcare.
The two have joined forces to perform 60 tonsillectomies on patients who are currently on the waiting list at Steve Biko Pretoria Academic Hospital.
Earlier this month, forty operations were performed and an additional 20 patients will be operated on tomorrow.
Doctors performing operations are ear, nose and throat specialists from Steve Biko Academic Hospital, MediClinic and others will take time off from their private practice to assist in this project.
The Health and Social Development MEC Ntombi Mekgwe who will also take the media to a tour of the hospital and meet beneficiaries of this initiative, says the government appreciates such partnerships.
“The Department is grateful to companies such as Mediclinic for their support in boosting quality of service delivery in public health facilities as well as health professionals who have dedicated their time and expertise to ensure the success of this venture,” says MEC Mekgwe.
