MEC Mazibuko rolls out Know Your Neighbourhood Campaign in Temba Cluster

As part of the roll out of the Know Your Neighbourhood Campaign, the Gauteng MEC of Community Safety, Ms Faith Mazibuko, will on Thursday, 13 October 2011, launch the campaign in Sebothoma Community Hall Unit D, Temba in Tshwane, in a bid to enhance:

  • Neighbourhood Safety Networks
  • Community Involvement

The campaign will contribute in:

  • drastic reduction in Trio crimes (house robberies, business robberies and vehicle hijacking)
  • create a platform for better dialogue between all people and communities
  • shared understanding within neighbourhoods

The event will commence with a door-to-door campaign, were the community members will conduct an awareness campaign on substance abuse at Hammanskraal Station at 09h00.

The second phase is the briefing session at Temba Police Station, where the MEC for Community Safety will be give an overview of crime and safety in the area at 15h00.

The third phase , the MEC accompanied by the Mayor, MMC, Cluster Commanders, Councillors and other dignitaries will visit crime hotspots and interact with communities on issues of crime between 16h15 to 18h00 on the following areas:

  • Hammanskraal Station
  • Temba Land Fill Site

The final phase will be launch of the Know Your Neighbourhood Campaign.
