MEC Mazibuko encourages women to report domestic violence and visits hotspots

As part of 16 Days of Activism against women and children abuse commemoration, the MEC for Gauteng Community Safety Ms Faith Mazibuko will on Saturday, 26 November 2011, conduct an outreach programme in Vanderbjil Park, Sedibeng District.

The purpose of the programme is to create awareness on Gender Based Violence Prevention and disseminating information. Communities mainly women, children and persons with disabilities will be encouraged to report cases and will further be informed of on how to follow-up on their cases, and the services that are available to women and children.

Phase 1: The event will commence with a briefing session, were the Cluster Commander will give the MEC and stakeholders the overview of crime, particularly domestic violence in the areas at Vanderbjil Park Police Station at 9am- 10am

Phase 2: Door to door campaign the MEC accompanied by the Mayor, MMC’s, Cluster Commanders, Councillors and other dignitaries will visit crime hotspots and visit the service centre at Bequerel to interact with communities on issues of crime between 10am – 12pm
