MEC Masike resumes unannounced visit to health facilities

Following a successful visit to health facilities where MEC Magome Masike  targeted clinics, MEC Masike will this morning resume unannounced visit to health facilities.  This time the visits will include a number of hospitals where he will monitor cleanliness, medication stock level, medical equipment and physical state of facilities.  He will also interact with the hospitals management, doctors and nurses as well as patients with a view to assess patient satisfaction and conditions of service of health professionals.

The first visit is scheduled for today, Monday, October 31, 2011 at 12 O’clock  at Swartruggens Hospital.  The MEC will then proceed to Silverkraans Community Health Center where there are complains about poor health services.

Other health institutions which will be visited in this first phase of the second leg include Lehurutshe/ Zeerust Hospital and Thusong Hospital.  A number of clinics across the province which were not visited in the first leg have also been identified for visits.

The first leg of the MEC’s visits has seen more than 30 clinics been renovated on physical infrastructure both internally and external. Supply of medication to health facilities has also improved significantly since the MEC’s interventions.
