MEC Marawu to launch Women's Month programme

Eastern Cape MEC for Transport Thandiswa Marawu will officially launch her 2012 Women’s Month programme at the Wilsonia Traffic Testing Centre in East London on Thursday, 2 August 2012.

This launch will feature:

  • The opening of the second pilot site of a Computerised Learners Licence Testing (CLLT) Centre in the province;
  • The unveiling of the e-Natis Anti-fraud and Corruption Strategy; and
  • The introduction of Learners and Driver’s License pilot project for people living with disabilities.

The first Computerised Learners Licence Testing pilot site was officially opened by MEC Marawu at Ngqushwa Traffic Department in Peddie in November 2011. This new system replaces the current booklet testing module.

With regard to the new Computerised Learners Licence Testing:

  • All the applicable questions per test type and the required marks to pass a specific test will be maintained on the eNaTIS.
  • Functionality will exist to maintain the demonstration clip to be displayed to the applicant on screen (text) as well as the audio clip (in all 11 official languages).
  • The examiner will allocate a specific terminal to the successfully identified applicant before he/she enters the test room.
  • The terminal will request the applicant for his/her fingerprint.
  • The system will scan the applicant’s identification number and validate its accuracy by comparing it with the application details.
  • The system will inform the applicant that he/she is at the correct terminal or if he/she is at the wrong terminal.
  • The system will randomly generate the test questions for the applicable test for each terminal. The test questions will be temporarily downloaded to the test terminal. After the test has been authorised, the questions will be deleted. The answers of the questions will be verified on the eNaTIS data centre.
  • The terminal will then be locked immediately after the laps of the test time.
