Exactly seven days after MEC Thandiswa Marawu promised to train scholar transport operators. The Eastern Cape department will hold its first workshop at the Mthatha Civic Centre on Friday, 7 October 2011 at 2 pm.
This is a start of a series of workshops targeting scholar transport operators in order to minimise the challenges identified during MEC Marawu’s meeting in Mthatha last Friday with all the role players involved in the scholar transport programme.
The main challenge was the inability of some of the operators to complete the Proofs of Delivery (PODs), which caused delays in the payment process.
The workshops are also intended to capacitate both One Future Development (OFD) 46 members and the Department of Transport in order to improve monitoring and evaluation of the services.
