The Eastern Cape MEC for Transport Thandiswa Marawu will be holding a road block which will focus on scholar transport vehicles on Tuesday, 11 October 2011 in Queenstown, starting at 07h00.
- they are Roadworthy
- drivers are fit and have Public Drivers Permits
- the operators have current Operating Licences
- vehicles have valid Certificates of Fitness
- operators have Public Passenger Liability Cover, which is very important.
“These vehicles will be checked and monitored if they are roadworthy to ensure that all learners who rely on this programme, arrive safe and on time to school and also to combat and minimise the number of pupils dying because of reckless driving and un-roadworthy vehicles”, says MEC Marawu.
