MEC Maloyi to visit mine victims

North West MEC for Human Settlements Public Safety and Liaison Nono Maloyi will visit mine workers victims injured during the recent violence incidents at the Lonmin Mines between Brits and the Rustenburg area in the North West Province.

The violence which started sometime last week has already claimed about 10 lives including two police officers and left more mine works severely injured and mostly admitted at the Fencrest Hospital in Rustenburg.

According to reports, the dead cops lost their lives after the police that were patrolling the area were attacked by a large group. It is further reported that the number of people killed increased after a protest turned ugly over the weekend.

The number of police patrolling the area was increased and tightened with a police helicopter.

MEC Maloyi will visit the injured mine workers at Fencrest today at 13h00.
