As addressing the infrastructure backlogs has taken a spotlight provincially, with about 539 inappropriate structures having been considered for construction, the Eastern Cape Education Department will tomorrow, 5 May 2011 hand over two schools, one in Vigiesville, near Umthatha while the other is in Lady Frere, both at 10h00.
Despite the two being handed over to the communities, the department is acknowledging that thus far there is a slow delivery of infrastructure as the list of deserving schools to be constructed is huge. However, the strides it has taken and progress it has made since its inception, this programme is yielding good results.
It is for this and other reasons that the Eastern Cape Department of Education MEC, Mandla Makupula, wishes to extend an invitation to all media fraternity as well as community members to be part of a school opening ceremony and handing over of Zwelodumo Senior Secondary School in Mthatha District tomorrow.
Accompanying the education MEC will be Local Government and Traditional Affairs MEC, Mlibo Qoboshiyane and its partners, Transtruct to present the newly built school. The school structure consists of 15 classrooms, one administration block and a set ablution facilities. During the construction, as well as newly renovated five classrooms including a computer lab were renovated by the department to ensure that they are utilised as they are now in a good condition for use.
Members of the media fraternity and communities in and around Vigiesville are cordially invited to witness the strides of progress made by the department to ensure that it ensures that the conditions of teaching and learning for our educators as well as students are made better.
